The event started with a welcome speech by Mr.Saurabh
Banerjee.
addressing the guest , students and faculty members .

Highlighting the scope of open source and its
derivatives in the IT World.
The much awaited COESCA event for starters
was finally held successfully on 31st august , 2013 at the
COESCA lab. The incessant rains could not move the spirits of the students from
attending the workshop, the lab. being seated to it’s full capacity.
The workshop was started By
Shamweel Anjum introducing open-source
technologies as well as getting along with
LINUX – it’s installation
Topics such as Porting from windows platform to linux .Linux Packages and types Debia/RPM updation/upgrading the machine.They were also shown LINUX clones of Mac and Windows operating systems

Second part of the
workshop was initiated by Atul Pandey on administrating the linux
based OS ubuntu/fedora/fuduntu/centos adding and modifying partition type
RAID/LMV/ext2/ext4/Ntfs
Participants were introduced to various GUI interfaces
including GNOME, LXDE , KDE ,UNITY ,
there difference , scope and applications.

It ended with
demonstration of the Custom Linux based OS created by the project leads of
CEOSCA namely Saurabh,Rijul,Shamweel,Atul called CEOSCA-Linux
The students were also given a live demonstration of
how to successfully port from windows to LINUX platform followed by the
advantages of LINUX over windows. This event helped to break a few myths
regarding LINUX among students. Some of these were the enhanced user interface
of LINUX , security enhancement in Linux, stunning graphic user interface.
The feedback from the students regarding the workshop
was also very good.
